Occupational Therapy

At Ambi’s Home Health Care, our patients always come first. That’s why we’re committed to ensuring that every person we care for receives the best possible care while at home. Our licensed occupational therapists are deeply experienced in the field of home health care, most having worked in the home health care field for many years. Our occupational therapists share a passion for individualized patient care, and for working with patients in the home, helping them achieve greater mobility, strength and independence.

Occupational Therapy in the Home Health Care Setting

So what exactly does a home health occupational therapist do?

If your doctor has ordered occupational therapy (OT) as part of your home health plan of care, then Ambi’s will assign a licensed occupational therapist to work with you in your home. Like all of our home health care providers, your occupational therapist works under the supervision of your nurse as a member of your home health care team. Both the type of occupational therapy that you receive, as well as the number of visits you require, will be determined by your doctor with assistance from your Ambi’s Home Health Care team. If any special equipment is needed for your therapy then it will be provided by your occupational therapist

The primary goal of a home health occupational therapist is to help patients improve their motor and functional skills so that they’re able to perform normal activities of daily living (ADLS) like showering or bathing dressing, grooming, making a bed, opening medication bottles, or preparing and eating a ample meal. Compared to physical therapists, occupational therapists address a broader range of issues ranging from cognitive impairment to functional disabilities. Occupational therapists can help patients achieve a greater sense of independence and control over their environments, thereby enabling them to remain as healthy and happy as possible while in the home.

In some cases, home health care patients may require both physical and occupational therapy, which treats for different things Either way, it’s the therapist’s job to help guide your rehabilitation so that you can continue to live as successfully and independently as possible.
