Skilled Nursing
At Ambi’s Home Health Care, our patients always come first. That’s why we’re committed to ensuring that every person we care for receives the best possible care while at home. Our skilled nursing team is deeply experienced in the field of home health care. Many of our RNs and LPNs have been with us from the very beginning, and all share a tremendous passion for patient care.
In fact, these professionals are the very foundation upon which our agency is built. Our founder, Thomas Ndumu, is an APRN who began his career over twelve years ago as a home health RN. Both he and his wife, Carolyn (also an RN), continue to maintain a strong presence within both the Omaha Home Health Care Community and the company at large, further ensuring our commitment to providing quality home health care, and maintaining our tradition of always putting patients first.
Skilled Nursing in the Home Health Care Setting
So what exactly does a home health nurse do?
Foremost, your home health care nurse serves as the link between you and your own doctor, enabling you to safely transition from a more traditional health care setting such as a hospital to your home. In some cases, skilled RNs may also manage longer-term care, liasoning between you and your doctor to help provide ongoing treatment for chronic conditions like COPD and diabetes.
Whatever the case may be your nurse’s primary job is to oversee your care while at home and guide you toward continual improvement in your condition whenever possible. Your nurse also manages other members of your home health care team, including CNAs (nurse aides and physical or occupational therapists).
Your nurse is an experienced professional who has worked with a wide variety of conditions within a home care setting under the guidance of a physician. Your care is specific to you, the patient your condition and your doctor’s orders but may include wound care, medication management, diabetic care, cardiac management, taking blood for labs, and providing Foley or catheter care, among others.
In cases where you might need a bath aide/CNA, or home-based therapy. Your nurse also works closely to help guide the frequency and term of treatment, reporting results and conditions to your doctor as the situation requires.
